With so many pet tags and pet trackers available on the market, how do you know which is best for you?
If you spend a lot of time outdoors with your dogs, having a tracker tag, as well as a pet ID tag is imperative. Summers in the UAE are extremely hot, and when a pet goes missing, finding them as quickly as possible is critical due to potential heat stroke.
If your cat spends time outdoors, a tracker tag and pet ID tag is also essential.
What happens if they lose their tags?
It’s not guaranteed that this won’t happen to you, and it may sound scary but there are other precautions you can and should take including but not limited to:
Microchips Your pet should (by law) be microchipped. In Dubai, you can register your pet with the municipality, and you can register your pet with Where My Paws At. If you are unsure if your pet is registered with the DM, please ask your vet to confirm this with you. Please be aware that even though your pet may be registered with your vet, this does not automatically mean they are registered with the municipality. In Abu Dhabi, a new mandatory initiative starts 3rd February 2025 where you will need to register your pets with the DMT.
Embroidered Collars / Harnesses
If your dog or cat doesn’t like to wear a tag, or they lose their tags regularly, another option is to have their name’s, and your contact number embroidered onto their collars.
